Psalms Without Words

You are cordially invited to a musical exploration of Morning Prayer in Psalms Without Words, led by Kate Mackin daily throughout the month of August.

This performance work represents an effort to demonstrate musical assistance to ordained Anglican Church of Canada clergy in their vocational obligations, introduce the congregations of the Diocese of New Westminster, as well as the Canadian general public in the vicinity of Vancouver, British Columbia, to the practice of the Divine Office, and to sustain and develop the unique musical style of The Canadian Psalter.

This month-long cycle of Anglican psalmody indicated for morning prayer (Matins) has as it’s central emphasis the correctly elucidated, speech and language determined rhythmic patterns of the Anglican pointed chant, performed on tenor recorder, and therefore without text, but presenting the notated music of the chants in pure tones.

Psalms Without Words will be offered Monday-Saturday at 7:30am, in the sanctuary of St. Faith’s. All are welcome to drop by and attend one or more sessions.
