On January 21, 2026, we had our monthly council meeting at the church. We had 9 members in attendance.
Some of the highlights include we look forward to our annual Vestry meeting on Feb 22, 2026. We discussed having light snacks to munch on, in the form of a potluck. Please bring some snacks to add to the potluck. Our treasurer, Sherman, is putting the final touches of the year end financials. We discussed the term limits for our members being on council. The limits are as follows: council members can stay for a 3 year term and then can sign on for an additional 3 year term. They must step down after the 2 terms. They can also step down after their first 3 year term. We discussed having a work party sign up for Jan 31st to help with installing new LED lights in our large ceiling pots, with the help of a lift from the Cathedral downtown. We will need to move all the pews, then place the pews back. (Update, Adam has put this on hold due to some issues with the operation of the lift safety.)
Shannon and Barb are gearing up for Shrove Tuesday Community Pancake Supper on Feb 17, 2026. We are looking for a big turnout.
St. Hildegard’s will be celebrating their 10th year Anniversary on March 1st, 2026 with fun for all after our Sunday service downstairs.
As you all know, we have a beautiful Prayer Tree at the front of the church, which you can light a candle for someone in your thoughts. There are only 18 candles available, so we are going to commission another beautiful tree. We will set up a fund raiser, as the cost is around $5,000.
Have a wonderful rest of January and we look forward to updating you in the middle of Feb with our next blog.
God bless…
Barry McParlan
