Council Update: April 2026

The following items were discussed at the April 15th Council meeting:

  • The lease with the new day care operator has been signed with the day care to begin operations in January 2027, which will be the date the full amount of the negotiated rental agreement will commence. The day care will be charged 50% of the negotiated rental agreement when they begin the fixturing period, which will begin no later than October 2026;
  • The council is introducing a Hospitality Committee to be responsible for organizing the preparation and/or provision of food and drink for special occasions (e.g. Art openings, concerts, book signing, etc.). We will be reaching out to the congregation to ask for volunteers;
  • Council representatives will be visiting the Directions Youth Services office in downtown Vancouver to obtain a tour and receive an explanation of the services being offered. St. Faith’s donates a portion of the outreach fundraising monies to the organization;
  • Council was informed that the Diocese of New Westminster will be hosting the Mission Conference 2026 on May 30, 2026. The theme this year will be “Moving in Mission, Guided by Spirit”, and it will feature keynote speaker Archbishop Michael Curry.  Up to five individuals from St. Faith’s will be provided the opportunity to attend;
  • Council also discussed events coming up soon:
    • New door painting will be taking place on May 7 & 8 from noon to 4:00;
    • May / Spring church yard clean-up will happen on Saturday, May 23 from 9:00 to noon;
    • The spring boulevard sale is scheduled for June 6th with Barry McParlan being the main coordinator this year;
    • Another Art Opening event featuring Richard Topping and his photographs is currently being organized.
