Encouraging Others to Make Positive Change
We know that we are only one building and one church community. While we can make a positive impact in our grounds and physical plant, but to truly create the change that our planet needs, we also have to support others in making positive changes and leaving a smaller footprint on our planet. The decision to install a bike rack on our grounds was to encourage folks who can bike to the church (or the businesses across the street) and it fills us with joy when we see bikes in it on Sunday morning and during the rest of the week.
We also hold opportunities for the public to learn more and explore ways that they can join in this work. In the past this has included native plant walks led by an Indigenous herbalist and presentations on how to plant pollinator-friendly gardens in your yard or on your balcony. Watch our upcoming events listing for future programs.
Our climate team is also in the process of exploring the installation of an EV charging station to help fill a gap in public charging infrastructure in our corner of Vancouver and to do our part to facilitate a change away from gas-powered transportation to cleaner technologies. We look forward to discovering more ways that we can be a force for change in our community and world.
