The Cost of Discipleship

You are invited to join us in an exploration this Lent of Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s seminal work, “Discipleship,” as we explore together what it means to be disciples of Christ and what the cost of that discipleship entails. Written in the 1930’s, this book is a critique of popular Christianity in Germany under the growing influence of the Nationalist Sociality Party. Though this book was authored nearly 90 years ago, it remains remarkably pertinent to our world and our church today.

We will meet Tuesdays in Lent from 6-7:15pm, March 8 through April 12. Participants may either join us in person or over Zoom. Links and materials will be sent to everyone who registers.

Registration is free. Participants will need to obtain a copy of the book, “Discipleship” by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. While any edition of this book will work, please note that older translations, including the well known “Cost of Discipleship” translation, have different chapter divisions from what we will be using for this series.

Access the Course Page for a full schedule of sessions, companion guides for each chapter, and Zoom links.
